Muster; the great Australian way to round up horses and cattle. In this case we have rounded up grapes from low yielding premium Barossa vineyards and only those that measure up to the highest quality, pass muster.
Barossa Muster wines are sourced from low yielding vineyards mainly in the northern sub regions of Greenock and Ebenezer. They are inspired by some of the great wines from Spain and at the same time demonstrate a true expression of modern Barossa.
Shiraz
Rich and full bodied our Shiraz combines a silky texture with aromas and flavours of blackberry spice and a hint of chocolate
Tempranillo
Tempranillo, tinto fino and tinto roriz grapes are actually the same variety depending on which part of the world you live. We couldn’t decide which name to use so we went with T
T is a fill bodied wine combining aromas and flavours of ripe berries with hints of dried herbs and cedar
Mataro
Mataro, Mourvèdre and Monastrell grapes are actually the same variety, depending on which part of the world you live! We couldn’t decide which name to use so we settled on M.
M is a full bodied wine with aromas and flavours of juicy blackberries, hints of dark chocolate and a rustic earthiness.
PX
PX - Pedro Ximenez, a white grape, has its origins in the Jerez (Sherry) district of Southern Spain, where some of the most distinctive fortified wines in the world are produced. The Barossa Valley has a similar climate and wine making history and is also ideally suited to creating world class fortified wine.
Many years ago Carl Lindner had the foresight to make and slowly age, in barrel, PX from the Barossa. Today, in partnership with the Muster family, the years of slow evolution in barrel have been bottled and released in very small quantities. The resulting wine has an abundance of barrel aged complexity, with sweet honey, dried peel, spice and nut aromas and flavours.
To be called RARE an Australian fortified wine must have an average blended age of at least 15 years in barrel.
1980
Bottled after 30 years in a barrel, this 1980 vintage Tawny is a rare wine. Carl Lindner has foresight, and patience, to age this classic wine from the Barossa, knowing one day the end result would be one of distinguished flavour with an abundance of barrel aged complexity. Today in partnership with David Muster, the years of slow evolution in barrel have been bottled and released in limited quantity.
Best enjoyed lightly chilled.
Allsorts Barossa red
Grenache 40%, Shiraz, 23%, Mourvedre 23%, Tempranillo 5% all sourced from the Barossa Valley wine region. The wine is only lightly oaked using older barrels so the full expression of the fruit can shine.
A vibrant dark red, with aromas of raspberry and dark chocolate. On the palate, pronounced mixed berry fruit flavours with a touch of spice. The perfect BBQ red.
Allsorts Barossa white
As the name suggests, allsorts is a blend of a few varieties including Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewurztraminer, all sourced from Barossa Valley wine region. Fermented and blended in stainless steel tanks and then bottled straight away to retain freshness.
A crisp aromatic white with a zesty nose and subtle floral notes, on the palate the wine is well constructed with a combination of citrus and tropical fruit flavours. The wine has a soft middle palate with great balance and texture.
